Whale Engineering was formed in 1982 by John Wales and his son Colin. Then became limited in 2004. The company has grown in size and reputation within both the residential market and construction industry in Edinburgh and Lothian & Borders.

With Colin Wales, John.s son, also in the family business, the engineering company grew in size, allowing them to offer more diverse Metal Fabrications, increase their Architectural Range & Subsequent volume increases in the Structural Field.

In Spring 2010, Whale Engineering were acquired by Haymarket Limited , a Central Scotland Brick, Block & Masonry Contractor. This takeover combined with there relocation to a new 8000sq ft Production and manufacturing facility in Deans Industrial Estate, Livingston allows more synergy between the companies . providing them with a greater range of services to offer the Scottish Construction Industry. This new location sees Whale Engineering take a further step forward in reaching New & Existing clients, providing the service clients have come to expect.

The Existing Management team of 4 is now headed up by a new Managing Director Steven McCormack, Steven having been with Whale as a Director during 2010 has now taken on driving the business forward, and was instrumental in selecting the new facility.s location where by enabling the Team to continue to grow & build there client base, whilst providing the full service: "Consider, Create and Construct"
